Child Protection Intern – Phnom Penh

About the role

Join UNICEF’s Child Protection Section in Phnom Penh as a National Intern. You will support the development of a new regulatory framework for the social service workforce, working closely with an international consultant and the Child Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the international consultant with translation services for the draft Royal Decree establishing a Social Service Workforce Board.
• Provide administrative and translation support for the review and update of the existing Prakas defining positions, functions, professional standards, and licensing systems for social service workers.
• Support national and sub‑national consultations on the draft Royal Decree by collecting, summarising, and documenting feedback.
• Help draft and finalise the second version of the Royal Decree and related knowledge paper, incorporating consultation inputs.
• Perform general administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence, meeting notes, filing, archiving, and document management for Output 2.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (minimum third year) from a Social Work, Law or related programme.
• Proficiency in English and Khmer, both written and spoken.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities with attention to detail.
• Interest in regulatory‑framework development for the social service workforce.
• Commitment to UNICEF’s mission, values, and child‑rights safeguarding principles.

Required skills

What we offer

• Monthly stipend of USD 300.
• Full‑time 6‑month placement (October 2026 – February 2027).
• Flexible working hours subject to supervisor approval.
