Senior Heavy Machinery Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Heavy Machinery Technician to lead the diagnosis, repair, and commissioning of heavy construction and mining equipment. The role combines advanced technical work with mentoring junior staff and ensuring high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy machinery, including engines, hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, transmissions, axles, and electrical systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, major overhauls, and machine commissioning, including pre‑delivery inspections and handovers.
• Provide on‑site technical support at customer locations, responding promptly to breakdowns and emergency service requests.
• Lead and coach junior technicians, develop technical procedures, and drive workshop efficiency improvements.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers, support warranty investigations, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, and complete required safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Prepare accurate service reports, record labor hours and parts usage, and update maintenance management systems.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology or related field.
• 5‑7 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• At least 3 years in a senior technician or team‑leader role.
• Proven ability to work independently on‑site and mentor junior staff.
