Business Development & Growth Strategist – SME Scaling & Partnerships

About the role

API Development Consulting (API-DC) is seeking a Business Development & Growth Strategist to lead the design and implementation of strategies that scale small and medium enterprises, expand donor‑funded programmes, and strengthen partnership systems across Cambodia. This full‑time, on‑site position reports to senior management and works closely with programme, finance and communications teams.

Key responsibilities

• Identify growth opportunities for SMEs and design scaling strategies.
• Develop and submit funding proposals aligned with donor priorities.
• Conduct market and stakeholder analyses to inform business development plans.
• Generate new leads with donors, corporate partners and local organisations.
• Coordinate outreach activities, events and networking sessions that showcase API‑DC’s work.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships and manage key relationships.
• Track performance against growth targets and report outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records in CRM tools and ensure all activities reflect API‑DC’s values.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in business development, partnership management or programme design within NGOs, development agencies or the private sector, preferably in Cambodia or Southeast Asia.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and proposal‑writing abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; Khmer proficiency is highly desirable.
• Commitment to transparency, accountability, non‑partisanship and human‑rights‑based inclusive development.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, development, or a related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
