Research Manager / Economist

About the role

The Research Manager/Economist will design and lead research projects on credit markets, consumer behaviour and the Cambodian economy, leveraging CBC’s internal data and external sources. This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Phnom Penh.

Key responsibilities

• Develop research frameworks, questionnaires and methodologies tailored to credit and economic topics.
• Collect, clean and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources.
• Produce reports, dashboards, policy briefs, white papers and presentations for internal teams, clients and regulators.
• Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Support product development and strategic decision‑making with data‑driven insights.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to ensure research quality, accuracy and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and research abilities, with experience in market research and questionnaire design.
• Proven track record of synthesising complex information into actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Khmer proficiency is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Data Science or a related field.
• Attention to detail, experience leading research projects and handling large datasets.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical and data analysis tools such as Excel, R, Stata and SPSS.
• Experience with database querying.
• Familiarity with credit risk or financial services concepts.
