Research Associate (Cambodia)

About the role

The Research Associate at Asia Centre supports all research activities carried out by the Centre. The position is open to candidates fluent in written and spoken English and is based in Phnom Penh.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to research conceptualisation and design, draft research proposals and implement surveys, interviews and focus group discussions
• Undertake online and offline research, review and analyse documents and summarise findings
• Compile data into tables and infographics and prepare presentations
• Design and administer online questionnaires
• Contribute to drafting baseline studies, commentaries, website articles, narrative reports, policy briefs and book chapters
• Liaise with donors, publishers, external researchers and speakers at conferences and seminars
• Support the day-to-day administration and reporting of the Centre's research projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in human rights or related subjects such as law, politics, social sciences, international relations, development studies or Asia/ASEAN studies
• One to three years of relevant research work experience
• Excellent oral, written and public presentation skills in English
• Ability to critically analyse and organise information from diverse sources
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines

Required skills

• Expertise with MS Office tools
• Familiarity with Canva, WordPress and other relevant software

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and alternate Saturdays, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Applications are made through a Google Form; only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
