Montessori/Early Years Lead Teaching Assistant

About the role

EDU Early Years School, a new Montessori‑focused early childhood institution in Tuol Kork, Phnom Penh, is seeking a full‑time Lead Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing, child‑centered learning environment that supports holistic development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering age‑appropriate Montessori and early years activities.
• Prepare and organise classroom materials and learning stations each day.
• Guide children through individual and small‑group work, supporting routines such as snack, rest, and transitions.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Observe, document, and communicate children’s progress to staff and families.
• Implement positive, respectful behavior guidance strategies.
• Participate in curriculum planning, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.

Required profile

• Experience supporting learning in early childhood or primary settings.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with colleagues, children, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and a solid understanding of child development.
• Relevant qualification such as a certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education, Montessori training, or a related field (highly beneficial).
• Commitment to school policies, child safety standards, and inclusive practices.
• Organisational reliability and willingness to engage in continuous learning.

Required skills

• Basic to intermediate instructional skills for early years activities.
• Knowledge of Montessori methodology.
• Ability to follow safety and inclusion protocols.
