Medical Records Intern

About the role

The Medical Records Intern supports the Medical Records team in organizing, maintaining, digitizing and managing patient records. The intern ensures that medical files are accurately stored, securely handled and readily available to authorized hospital staff, while strictly protecting patient privacy.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, file, label and retrieve patient medical records, keeping storage areas clean, secure and well maintained.
• Check routinely for misplaced or incomplete files and prepare them for long-term archiving.
• Scan and upload physical records into the hospital's EHR system.
• Track and log file transfers between departments and help locate missing or urgently needed records.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and handle documents carefully to prevent loss, damage or unauthorized access.
• Assist staff and management with document inquiries, record audits, quality checks and routine administrative duties.

Required profile

• Enrolled student or recent graduate in Nursing, Health Sciences, Health Administration or a related field.
• Reliable, adaptable team player committed to patient privacy and hospital compliance.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Basic English skills, strong organization and high attention to detail.
