AV and ICT Technician

About the role

The AV and ICT Technician supports the day-to-day operation of the school's ICT systems and audio-visual equipment, ensuring reliable performance of computers, networks, classroom technologies and event and assembly setups. Working as part of the ICT team, the role shares responsibility for first-line technical support to staff and students, equipment maintenance and supporting teaching, learning and school events through technology. The position reports to the ICT Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and pack away sound systems, microphones, speakers, projectors, screens and basic stage lighting for assemblies, performances, meetings and events; advise teachers and event organisers on equipment capabilities.
• Maintain classroom and hall AV equipment, keep records of equipment and follow safe working practices.
• Provide first-level technical support to staff and students, install and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, projectors and smartboards, and troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues.
• Manage ICT support tickets and work with other ICT team members.
• Assist with LAN, WAN and wireless networks, routers, switches, access points (including MikroTik and Ubiquiti), Wi-Fi coverage, firewall, content filtering, access control, DHCP/DNS and IP camera and VoIP phone maintenance.
• Support on-premises and cloud systems such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, including user accounts, backups, antivirus and endpoint protection.
• Help implement network security measures, monitor for unauthorised access and enforce ICT cybersecurity and data privacy policies.
• Keep maintenance, repair and configuration records, update inventory and asset logs, and maintain network topology and infrastructure documentation.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of experience in an AV / ICT support or technician role.
• Practical experience with basic AV equipment (PA systems, microphones, projectors, displays) or a strong willingness to learn.
• Desirable: experience in a school setting, familiarity with classroom technology, basic audio mixing, stage lighting, video recording or live streaming, and experience with MikroTik, Cisco or similar systems.
• Good understanding of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 administration.
• Proficiency in English, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and commitment to confidentiality and data security.

Required skills

• Windows and macOS systems, networking fundamentals and basic server management.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
