Assistant Operator - Substation (Kratie Province)

About the role

The Assistant Operator supports the safe and efficient operation of electrical substations in Kratie Province. Working closely with the Substation Manager, engineers and the EDC NCC, you will help ensure that switching activities, inspections and maintenance are carried out according to established procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with EDC NCC for switching activities and follow their instructions.
• Record substation electrical and network data as required by EDC NCC and operation procedures.
• Perform daily visual inspections according to the maintenance plan and report any unusual findings.
• Immediately report trips, breakdowns or faults to the Substation Manager, Engineer or General Manager.
• Assist and supervise maintenance and repair work when requested by a superior.
• Ensure all visitors and workers on the substation perimeter comply with safety regulations.
• Organise and maintain documentation and data records.
• Participate in safety activities such as training, meetings, fire drills and report near‑misses or unsafe conditions.
• Provide general assistance to other substation staff as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technician qualification, or experience as a Control Room Operator.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with live electrical equipment or in a substation environment.
• Good knowledge of electrical principles and safety practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
