Merchandiser – Purchasing & Merchandise Buyer

About the role

The Merchandiser will lead purchasing and product selection for Kohnan Shoji’s home‑center stores in Cambodia. Working closely with suppliers and store teams, you will ensure the right assortment of household, electronics, furniture and DIY items to meet market demand.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market research on competitors and trends to shape purchasing strategy.
• Gather and analyse detailed market data to support product selection decisions.
• Identify, evaluate and qualify potential suppliers for competitiveness and reliability.
• Ensure all purchasing transactions are transparent, compliant with company policies and legal requirements, including verification of supplier licences.
• Participate in supplier negotiations and manage administrative purchasing tasks.
• Prepare regular purchasing reports and updates for product meetings.
• Coordinate with suppliers on invoices, account setup and smooth operations.
• Collaborate with store operations to monitor product performance and its impact on sales.
• Maintain proper documentation and records for all purchasing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in retail purchasing, merchandising, floor management or marketing.
• Experience with household goods, home electronics, bedding, furniture, leisure products or home improvement categories.
• Proven ability to manage product categories such as pet supplies, car accessories, camping, gardening tools or DIY products.
• Business‑level proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and responsibility mindset.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
