Loan Recovery Manager

About the role

The Loan Recovery Manager will oversee the bank’s credit risk portfolio, ensuring that loan administration aligns with the institution’s Credit Policy. This senior position combines risk assessment, due‑diligence investigations, and leadership of a recovery team to protect and optimise asset quality.

Key responsibilities

• Control loan risk through diligent administration and adherence to the Credit Policy.
• Lead due‑diligence, risk assessment, risk rating, documentation and remedial management for loan transactions.
• Monitor, analyse and report on risky transactions, maintaining portfolio control limits.
• Conduct investigations and valuations of land and buildings offered as collateral.
• Develop and implement new strategies for non‑performing loan (NPL) resolution.
• Design and manage the loan recovery strategy, plan, policies, and procedures.
• Provide inspirational leadership to the recovery team, embedding the bank’s vision, mission and values.
• Recommend legal action for severe cases, prepare court case reports, and coordinate with lawyers on demand letters and case follow‑up.
• Perform additional duties as required by the Chief Credit Officer.

Required profile

• Proven experience in loan recovery, credit risk management or related banking functions.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, risk rating methodologies and collateral valuation.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑development capabilities.
• Ability to prepare legal documentation and liaise effectively with external counsel.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and decision‑making skills.
