Learning Commons Facilitator

About the role

The Learning Commons Facilitator provides digitally‑enabled learning support to students and teachers, helping them access and use both digital and physical academic resources. The role blends modern librarianship, student support, and digital capability development to foster a thriving learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students and staff in locating and using digital libraries, e‑books, journals and other online resources.
• Guide users in evaluating academic materials, referencing, and maintaining academic integrity.
• Deliver workshops and drop‑in sessions on digital and information literacy, effective study practices and basic AI ethics.
• Serve as the frontline presence in the Learning Commons, offering welcoming and proactive support.
• Promote the use of digital‑first resources and help academics integrate them into teaching.
• Collaborate closely with Digital Learning Facilitators and the Centre for Learning Innovation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Moodle (Learning Management System).
• Experience using digital library platforms (e.g., McGraw Hill Access).
• Basic understanding of AI literacy and ethical research practices.
