Communications Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer will support WHO Cambodia in delivering strategic communication, advocacy and health promotion activities across the Western Pacific Region, ensuring key stakeholders receive timely, credible information.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies and plans in line with WHO corporate guidelines.
• Identify and produce success stories, advocacy products and media content for diverse audiences.
• Organise media events, campaigns and briefings, and manage WHO’s social‑media presence.
• Maintain relationships with press, media and national communication counterparts to secure positive coverage.
• Oversee content for the WHO country office website and conduct regular media monitoring.
• Provide emergency risk communication and advise leadership on strategic communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public health or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience developing and implementing communication strategies, preferably in an international or health context.
• Strong understanding of public health, international development and WHO’s mandate.

Required skills

• Excellent oral and written communication, with solid writing ability.
• Proven experience creating media and advocacy products.
• Ability to translate technical information for varied audiences.
