Senior Ocean Planning Associate

About the role

Flexport is seeking a Senior Ocean Planning Associate to join its Ocean Planning Team in Phnom Penh. The role involves end‑to‑end planning and booking of ocean freight shipments, supporting growth goals and ensuring smooth operations across multiple trade lanes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute end‑to‑end planning and booking of ocean freight shipments within the regional export network, including origin intermodal movements.
• Serve as the first point of escalation for issue resolution and process improvement for specific trade lanes or carriers.
• Coordinate daily operations with Account Management, Ocean Execution, Allocation, Procurement, ROM and Ocean Carriers.
• Maintain FMT data such as allocation, sailing schedules and cut‑off dates.
• Perform pre‑bookings, support trial shipments and manage rollover lists when needed.
• Create best‑practice documentation, drive function enhancements, conduct automation studies and provide feedback to tech teams.
• Analyze utilization data and forecast versus allocation, managing exceptions and escalations within SLA targets.
• Develop local carrier relationships, monitor performance metrics and collect market intelligence.
• Collaborate with Ocean Procurement and Allocation & Yield on allocation planning, hard allocation handling and feedback.
• Prepare forecasts, request soft allocation to secure space for clients and optimise net revenue and dead‑freight performance.
• Monitor OTE and other key performance indicators and lead continuous process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in ocean operations or freight forwarding.
• Strong written and spoken English; Chinese is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented, structured and eager to learn global supply‑chain operations.
• Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to client needs.
