Local Data Collection Lead

About the role

This short‑term (approximately 30 days) position supports a high‑impact research study on the contributions of Australia Awards alumni to Cambodia’s development. Working closely with the Research Lead, you will coordinate in‑country data collection, conduct interviews, and ensure data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate in‑country data collection, including respondent identification, interview scheduling, and fieldwork management.
• Conduct interviews with Australia Awards alumni and relevant stakeholders.
• Develop interview protocols, data collection plans, and ensure accurate documentation and quality assurance.
• Code and analyse qualitative data using appropriate research tools and software.
• Consolidate and analyse quantitative data in Microsoft Excel.
• Contribute to desk reviews, research reports, evidence stories, case studies and presentations.
• Monitor progress with the Research Lead, identify challenges, and ensure timely delivery of outputs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in research, social development, monitoring and evaluation, communications or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in applied research, monitoring and evaluation, qualitative research or data collection.
• Experience coordinating research activities, conducting stakeholder interviews and engaging diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a commitment to ethical research and confidentiality.
• Fluent in English and Khmer, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for quantitative data analysis.
• Experience with qualitative data coding and analysis using research software.
