Deputy Head of Oncology Department

About the role

The Deputy Head of the Oncology Department will support the department head in managing daily clinical operations at Khmer–Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh. This full‑time, on‑site position involves coordinating patient care, supervising staff and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day oncology services, including patient flow, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Participate in diagnostic assessments, treatment planning and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Supervise and mentor medical, nursing and allied health staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, clinical audits and contribute to departmental research projects.
• Ensure adherence to national and international oncology guidelines and hospital policies.
• Assist in departmental budgeting, equipment management and coordination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy services.

Required profile

• Advanced medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in oncology or internal medicine and substantial oncology experience.
• Proven leadership experience supervising clinical teams and managing departmental operations.
• Commitment to teaching, mentoring junior staff and participating in continuous professional development.
• Fluency in Khmer; proficiency in English or Russian is an advantage.
