Senior Database Administrator Officer

About the role

Pi Pay is looking for a Senior Database Administrator Officer to join its Phnom Penh team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the databases that power the company’s cashless payment platform and internal applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain relational database systems supporting high‑transaction fintech services.
• Monitor database performance, tune queries and optimise indexing strategies.
• Manage backup, restore and disaster‑recovery procedures, ensuring high availability through replication, clustering or failover.
• Guarantee data integrity and security by applying access controls, encryption and audit mechanisms.
• Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps and product teams to support new features and resolve production issues.
• Document configurations, procedures and participate in internal audits.
• Drive continuous improvement of database operations and scalability.

Required profile

• Strong experience with relational DBMS such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
• Proficiency in SQL for administration and performance tuning.
• Experience in database design, data modelling, indexing and capacity planning for high‑transaction environments.
• Expertise in backup, restore, disaster‑recovery planning and high‑availability solutions.
• Knowledge of database security practices, including access control, encryption and auditing.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux/Unix servers and scripting for automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in fintech, payments or mission‑critical systems is a plus.
