Quantity Surveyor – Construction Cost Management

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will manage all cost aspects of construction projects, from early estimates to final completion. The role ensures projects stay within budget while meeting quality and contractual standards, supporting procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tender documents, project budgets, and procurement schedules.
• Conduct quantity take‑offs and produce Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Schedule of Rates.
• Develop pre‑contract cost estimates and feasibility studies.
• Monitor budgets and produce monthly cost reconciliation reports.
• Review construction drawings and specifications to determine quantity requirements.
• Prepare tender packages for suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate submissions and provide recommendations.
• Negotiate contracts, issue purchase orders and manage contractual correspondence.
• Assess variation orders, claims and extension‑of‑time requests, and recommend responses.
• Scrutinise maintenance, material and subcontractor costs for cost‑effectiveness.
• Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and travel to sites as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3–4 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost estimation, procurement and contract administration.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and project costing.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
