Human Rights Consultant – Full-time (Phnom Penh)

About the role

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights is seeking a motivated Human Rights Consultant to join its team in Phnom Penh. The role is full‑time and involves providing technical support, conducting research, and producing advocacy materials for a range of human‑rights projects.

Key responsibilities

• Advise project coordinators on implementation of activities and provide technical support.
• Conduct extensive human‑rights and legal research and draft English‑language advocacy outputs such as press releases, letters, media alerts, and official correspondence.
• Produce legal documents including reports, amicus curiae briefs, and analyses; prepare submissions for UN mechanisms and other international bodies.
• Contribute to advocacy strategy, write funding proposals, and support donor reporting.
• Collaborate with the Management Committee to review and update organisational policies.
• Attend external meetings, deliver internal training sessions, and supervise interns and volunteers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in international relations, political science, human rights, development, law or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum two years of experience in human‑rights research, advocacy, fundraising, public‑interest law, international law or development.
• Strong knowledge of international human‑rights law and mechanisms.
• Excellent English writing and research abilities.
• Familiarity with the human‑rights context in Cambodia.
