Senior Java Engineer – AI Code Review (Remote)

About the role

SME Careers is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to work remotely on an hourly‑paid contractor basis. You will review AI‑generated Java code, assess architectural solutions, and produce high‑quality reference implementations and explanations that help improve AI model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed AI training prompts and responses across diverse topics to guide model learning.
• Evaluate, rank, and refine AI responses to boost accuracy, fluency, and contextual relevance.
• Test AI models for inaccuracies or bias, ensuring reliability across use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production‑grade Java.
• Deep knowledge of core Java, concurrency primitives, and the Collections Framework.
• Extensive experience building backend services with Spring or Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservice architectures.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, system design, and performance optimization in distributed Java systems.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency, both written and spoken.
• Comfort with modern engineering tooling such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and containerization technologies.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough code reviews and give structured, constructive feedback.
• Experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI‑generated technical content is a strong plus.
