Senior Architect

About the role

Kambujaya is a boutique lifestyle and property development firm focused on design-oriented spaces for the Cambodian market. It is looking for a Senior Architect to lead architectural design from concept through construction, working within a small, close-knit team of Cambodian designers. The role is full-time and based in Phnom Penh.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural design of projects from concept through construction, in line with the firm's design philosophy and quality standards.
• Develop design concepts and prepare detailed drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors and oversee design reviews and site inspections.
• Work closely with the Managing Director, engineers and other project collaborators to resolve design issues and support cost-effective solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to design research.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of work experience, ideally at a reputable design or construction firm in Cambodia.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
• Prior project management experience, including planning, coordination and communication with internal and external teams.
• Demonstrated leadership experience leading a team of junior architects.
• Fluent in English and Khmer, written and spoken.
• Currently or willing to be based in Phnom Penh; independent, flexible, reliable, well organised and team oriented.

Required skills

• Strong technical drawing and detailing abilities, with knowledge of local building construction practices in Cambodia (or similar markets).
• Advanced skills in design software such as AutoCAD and SketchUp, and rendering software.
