Operations Manager – Freight Forwarding & Logistics

About the role

The Operations Manager leads VICO Cambodia’s day‑to‑day logistics activities, overseeing freight forwarding, customs coordination, trucking, cross‑border transport, warehousing, customer service and compliance. The role is accountable for reliable service execution, cost control, profitability and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily ocean and air freight, customs clearance, trucking, cross‑border movements and warehousing within approved scope.
• Control shipments from booking through documentation, clearance, delivery, billing and file closure.
• Monitor shipment status, KPIs and service exceptions; escalate risks and coordinate corrective actions.
• Plan and control Cambodia‑Vietnam border operations, handling vendor coordination, documentation and scheduling.
• Act as senior escalation point for customers and strategic accounts, investigating failures and delivering recovery plans.
• Develop and maintain a network of carriers, brokers and warehouse providers; negotiate rates within delegated authority.
• Review job costing, vendor charges and shipment‑level gross profit; control operational expenses and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with Cambodian customs, import/export and safety regulations; lead incident response and claims handling.
• Set priorities, recruit, train and evaluate the operations team; standardise workflows and promote use of CargoWise or other TMS.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum five years of freight forwarding or logistics experience, including at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Practical knowledge of Cambodian logistics and customs operations; experience with Cambodia‑Vietnam cross‑border transport preferred.

Required skills

• Business‑level English; Khmer strongly preferred, Chinese/Vietnamese an advantage.
