Ocean Operations Associate

About the role

Flexport is looking for an Ocean Operations Associate to help make global trade easier for everyone. You will work closely with account managers, customs teams, carriers, and other partners to ensure smooth ocean freight operations in the Phnom Penh region. This role offers the chance to solve operational challenges and contribute to Flexport’s scaling model.

Key responsibilities

• Execute booking and documentation processes with clients and carriers.
• Troubleshoot shipment issues, handle exceptions, and escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with account management and planning teams to ensure an effective end‑to‑end export process.
• Coach junior specialists on daily operational tasks.
• Plan and execute special freight operations such as dangerous goods and refrigerated cargo.
• Assist senior associates with new business implementation, projects, and process improvements.
• Provide expertise to internal and external clients to support decision‑making and maintain high operational quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in ocean operations or freight forwarding.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills; Chinese is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented, structured, and eager to learn global supply chain operations.
• Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to client needs.
