Infectious Disease Surveillance Advisor – STRIDES Project

About the role

PATH is seeking an Infectious Disease Surveillance Advisor to lead technical aspects of the STRIDES project in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The advisor will support the strengthening of surveillance, detection and analytical capacity for human and animal health across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Assist day‑to‑day technical and operational aspects of projects in Cambodia.
• Support development, coordination and implementation of surveillance activities in the workplan, including epidemiological and laboratory surveillance of zoonotic, epidemic‑ and pandemic‑prone diseases and outbreak investigations.
• Provide technical guidance to regional staff to keep activities on track.
• Review and revise project and donor reports, draft publications and external communications.
• Coordinate with ministries of health, district health staff, international and national development partners.
• Contribute to national guidelines and normative policies.
• Serve as technical expert on animal and human disease surveillance aligned with Joint External Evaluation, International Health Regulations and other global guidelines.
• Produce and disseminate high‑quality data, situation reports, bulletins and health risk assessments.
• Support internal learning and capacity building within PATH.

Required profile

• Subject‑matter expert in infectious disease surveillance.
• Experience with both human and animal health surveillance systems.
• Proven ability to work with ministries, NGOs and international partners.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with Joint External Evaluation, International Health Regulations and related global guidelines.
