Head of Branch Audit Unit

About the role

The Head of Branch Audit Unit leads the branch audit team in planning, executing, and reporting audit engagements for the bank’s head office in Phnom Penh. The role requires strong analytical ability, independence, and the capacity to provide value‑added recommendations that enhance risk management, governance, and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the branch audit team to complete approved audit plans and update the audit program annually using a risk‑based approach.
• Develop a thorough understanding of business processes, document them in flowcharts or narratives, and identify inherent risks and controls.
• Design and execute audit tests, prepare working papers in line with IIA standards, and evaluate the adequacy of process design and control effectiveness.
• Document control weaknesses, provide evidential support, and propose practical recommendations.
• Conduct closing meetings, ensure clear audit reports, and follow up on action plans to closure.
• Maintain organized work papers for review and ensure accuracy throughout the audit lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, banking, accounting, law, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of internal or external auditing experience in the financial industry, with solid credit business knowledge.
• Deep understanding of audit concepts, risk and control analysis, root‑cause investigation, and best‑in‑class audit methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of banking operations, risk management, regulatory environment, internal controls over financial reporting, and IT environments.
