Civil Engineer – AI Data Evaluation

About the role

SME Careers, a fast‑growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, is looking for experienced civil engineers to help improve advanced language models. You will evaluate AI‑generated technical content, challenge models with realistic engineering scenarios, and ensure that AI explanations meet professional civil‑engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess AI‑generated responses for technical accuracy, logical soundness, completeness, and clarity across a wide range of civil‑engineering topics.
• Challenge language models with realistic calculations, design questions, and code‑informed reasoning tasks.
• Provide structured feedback identifying factual errors, flawed assumptions, missing constraints, unsafe recommendations, or incomplete reasoning.
• Help shape communication standards for AI‑generated civil‑engineering content, ensuring proper explanation of assumptions, limitations, calculations, and professional judgment.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional civil‑engineering experience in infrastructure design, structural analysis, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, environmental, or construction management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s, PhD, PE licensure or equivalent advanced credentials strongly preferred).
• Deep knowledge of civil‑engineering fundamentals such as statics, mechanics of materials, soil mechanics, hydraulics, materials behavior, load paths, construction methods, and infrastructure systems.
• Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI‑generated technical content is a strong plus.
