Transport Operation Supervisor / Assistant Fleet Manager

About the role

The Transport Operation Supervisor / Assistant Fleet Manager will support daily fleet activities, ensuring efficient vehicle dispatch, routing and compliance with safety standards. This role works closely with drivers, workshops and service providers to maintain road‑worthy vehicles and optimise fleet performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily fleet operations, including vehicle dispatch, scheduling and routing.
• Monitor the trucking system and GPS tracking to assign trucks efficiently.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and follow up on servicing and repairs.
• Liaise with workshops and service providers to ensure timely vehicle repairs.
• Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records and service histories.
• Support supervision of driver performance, discipline and compliance with company procedures.
• Monitor fuel consumption and fleet‑related expenses, assisting with budget control and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Ensure all vehicles have valid registration, insurance, permits and required documentation.
• Report vehicle accidents and incidents and assist with follow‑up investigations.
• Assist with procurement of spare parts, fuel cards and other fleet‑related services.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in fleet management, transportation or logistics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation Management or a related field (preferred).
• Good knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, GPS tracking and transportation procedures.
• Strong organisational, coordination and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
