Operations Manager – Freight Forwarding & Logistics

About the role

The Operations Manager leads VICO Cambodia’s daily logistics activities, overseeing freight forwarding, customs coordination, cross‑border transport, warehousing and customer service. The role is responsible for reliable service execution, cost control, profitability and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily ocean and air freight, customs clearance, trucking, cross‑border and warehousing operations within approved scope.
• Control shipments from booking through documentation, clearance, delivery, billing and file closure while monitoring KPIs and escalating risks.
• Plan and coordinate Cambodia‑Vietnam cross‑border movements, handling vendor coordination, border documentation and contingency arrangements.
• Act as senior escalation point for customers and strategic accounts, investigating service failures and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain a network of shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, customs brokers and warehouses, negotiating rates and monitoring performance.
• Review job costing, vendor charges and shipment‑level gross profit, controlling expenses and identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with Cambodian customs, import/export and safety regulations, maintain audit‑ready records and lead incident response.
• Set priorities, recruit, train and coach the operations team, standardize workflows and promote use of CargoWise or other approved systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Transport Management or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Practical knowledge of Cambodian logistics and customs operations; experience with ocean and air freight, customs brokerage, trucking and cross‑border transport, preferably Cambodia‑Vietnam.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CargoWise or similar transport management systems.
• Strong operational leadership, planning, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
