Assistant Director of DevOps – Banking

About the role

As the Assistant Director of DevOps you will drive the engineering strategy and spearhead the modernization of core technologies in a fast‑paced banking environment. You will lead multiple engineering functions, manage senior leaders, oversee architectural decisions and ensure operational excellence across all platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall engineering strategy, aligning technology initiatives with business goals and product roadmap.
• Lead and develop engineering functions including DevOps, Mobile Platform Engineering and QA/Testing, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Manage senior leaders such as the Head of DevOps and ensure strong alignment across domains.
• Modernize legacy systems and migrate codebases to scalable, cloud‑native, micro‑services architectures.
• Drive adoption of open infrastructure technologies, especially OpenStack and related tools.
• Own the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle – CI/CD, automated testing, release management and deployment strategies like blue‑green and canary.
• Define and track engineering metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR and change failure rate.
• Ensure security, compliance and reliability are embedded into all engineering processes.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience with substantial senior leadership responsibilities.
• Proven track record modernizing legacy systems and managing multiple functions (DevOps, QA, Mobile, Platform).
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, scalability, micro‑services architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment approaches.
• Experience with OpenStack and open‑source infrastructure ecosystems.
• Excellent leadership, communication and ability to influence engineering culture.
