Assistant Director, Mobile Engineering

About the role

As the Associate Director of Mobile Engineering, you will define and lead the bank’s mobile application and digital development strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps. This senior leadership position oversees architecture, technology evaluation, and performance for all digital and mobile channels within a major banking organization in Cambodia.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the mobile application and digital development strategy, aligning with business and customer experience goals.
• Own target‑state architecture for mobile and digital channels, ensuring scalability, resilience and compliance with enterprise principles.
• Evaluate emerging mobile and digital technologies and create adoption roadmaps.
• Establish and enforce architecture standards, governance forums and SDLC processes across front‑end and back‑end stacks.
• Embed Security‑by‑Design, oversee secure coding, threat modeling and regulatory compliance.
• Lead, mentor and scale a high‑performance mobile engineering team, managing capacity and prioritisation.
• Partner with Product, UX/UI, QA, DevOps and Cyber Security to deliver seamless mobile solutions.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software or mobile app engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record defining and executing mobile and digital strategy in a large, complex organization, preferably banking.
• Strong understanding of banking regulatory requirements and security standards (e.g., OWASP Mobile Top 10).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; master’s or certifications a plus.

Required skills

• Native iOS development (Swift) and Android development (Kotlin/Java).
• Cross‑platform frameworks: React Native, Flutter.
• API design (REST, GraphQL) and microservices architecture.
• Security by Design, mobile app security, OWASP Mobile Top 10.
• AI‑assisted coding, automated testing, CI/CD automation.
• CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, Agile/Scrum.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes.
