Revision of MLE Teaching and Learning Materials (EGL approach)

About the role

The consultancy will support UNICEF’s effort to improve the quality, relevance and effectiveness of Multilingual Education (MLE) teaching and learning in Cambodia by reviewing and revising curricula, instructional materials and teacher guides, ensuring alignment with the national curriculum, the Early Grade Learning (EGL) approach and the needs of Indigenous children.

Key responsibilities

• Review and adapt syllabi for Vernacular Language (L1), Social Studies and Science for grades 1‑3 to align with EGL methodologies.
• Review and revise MLE learning materials for the same subjects and grades, integrating indigenous knowledge, gender‑responsive education, disability inclusion and 21st‑century skills.
• Review and update Teacher Guides for MLE Kreung teachers for grades 1‑3 in Vernacular Language (L1), Social Studies and Science.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Language Development, Applied Linguistics, Curriculum Studies, Pedagogy or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in the education sector at national or sub‑national level, including work with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and schools.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing and implementing curricula, teaching and learning materials and assessments, preferably within Early Grade Learning or Multilingual Education programmes.
• Experience collaborating with UN agencies, NGOs or development partners and with Indigenous ethnic minority communities is an asset.
• Fluency in written and spoken Khmer and English.
