National Intern for Child Protection

About the role

The National Intern for Child Protection will support UNICEF’s Child Protection Section in Phnom Penh by providing translation and administrative assistance for the development of a Royal Decree and related policy documents on the social service workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Translate, review and help present the draft Royal Decree on establishing a Social Service Workforce Board.
• Support the international consultant and Child Protection team with documentation, consolidation of inputs and coordination for updating the existing Prakas.
• Provide administrative assistance for national and sub‑national consultations, including collecting and summarising feedback.
• Assist in drafting and finalising the second version of the Royal Decree and accompanying knowledge paper.
• Handle correspondence, meeting notes, filing, archiving and document management for Output 2.

Required profile

• Enrolled in at least the third year of a Social Work, Law or related degree programme, or a recent graduate.
• Fluent in English and Khmer (written and spoken).
• Strong organisational and communication abilities, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks.
• Interest in regulatory framework development for the social service workforce.
• Commitment to UNICEF’s mission, respect for diversity, child‑rights safeguarding and confidentiality.

Required skills

• English language proficiency (written and spoken).
• Khmer language proficiency (written and spoken).

What we offer

• Full‑time 6‑month internship (October 2026 – February 2027), Monday‑Friday, 8 hours per day.
• Monthly stipend of USD 300.
• Flexible working hours subject to supervisor approval.
• Experience working in an international UN environment on child‑protection policy.
