Media and Communications Intern

About the role

Under the supervision of the Project Development and Reporting Officer and the Media and Communications Officer, the Media and Communications Intern will support knowledge management, media monitoring and internal communications for IOM Cambodia, strengthening the Mission’s information base and responding to internal communications requests across programme areas.

Key responsibilities

• Organise the communications SharePoint and media library, applying consistent file naming, metadata and archiving photographs, videos, publications and templates.
• Conduct daily and weekly media monitoring of national, regional and international outlets, compile summaries and flag items that require a response.
• Maintain media and stakeholder databases, recording outlets, journalists, partners and civil‑society actors working on migration in Cambodia.
• Prepare reference materials such as fact sheets, backgrounders, key statistics and talking points drawn from public reports and UN publications.
• Draft internal announcements, format presentations and documents, and prepare event and briefing materials following IOM brand guidelines.
• Collect inputs from programme teams to produce situation updates, monthly communications summaries and social‑media analytics reports.
• Document Mission events by taking notes, capturing photographs and preparing short written records for internal use.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Multimedia Arts, Journalism, Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences or a related field completed within the last 12 months, or enrolment in the final academic year.
• Experience in photo and video coverage, content creation, research or information management gained through academic work, volunteering or previous internships.
